There are many competitive exams in India such as UPSC, SSC, NDA, CDS and many more. With change of technology, many things have changed, and so the exam patterns and problems. One needs to understand the level of competency and future career ahead before taking any further decisions. The competitive exam of CDS is also one of such excellent leveled exam where the aspirant can make an excellent future career in the defense services and contribute his valuable services to the nation. The CDS basically stands for Combined Defense Service, and one can join the field of his interest such as Army, Navy or Air Force.
This test is organized and conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The syllabus and exam pattern are also decided by it only. Since the beginning to the end of the test and commission, all responsibilities are performed by UPSC, and its officials only. So far as the process for the test is concerned, the UPSC declares the notice and relevant information about upcoming exams including exam dates, patterns and vacancies. The CDS examination date is divided into two segments as a preliminary test date and final test date.
There are different parameters for this test as it is a test for defense services. Other than the test, there are many other parameters such as-
Physical Standards: The aspirants must be perfectly fit as per physical standards required by the commission for admission.
Application Fee: The aspirant needs to pay required fees mentioned in the notification of the test. However, female candidates who belong to SC/ST categories are exempted from payment of such fees. The fees can be paid in the prescribed branches of different banks in cash as well it can be paid by using net banking and credit or debit card facilities.
The application for this test has to be made by online mode, and only one application has to be made for different positions. But if due to some situation, one has to make different application, then, Application with Highest Registration ID completed in all respects such as signature, Photograph, details of subjects, is considered by the commission. If the aspirant is already working with any government, still, one has to send the application directly to the UPSC through online only mentioning required details of current job.
This test is held twice in a calendar year that is once in February and once in September and the date is accordingly notified in various leading newspapers across the nation by the commission. Before going for the test, the aspirant has to prepare himself thoroughly with the pattern of the test and subjects. One has to make oneself much familiar with different norms of the test such as negative marking etc as ignorance to such norms can prove costly.
