CDS exam date
To enter into the army, one needs to pass through many tough tests. No doubt, physical test is very essential, but the written test is also very important. After clearance of this test only, one can choose in which force he wants to go. It is considered as the leading test among various competitive tests. It really tests not just knowledge, but also the skills of understanding and presenting. Different styles of asking the questions are really tricky to create a problem for novice, however, with practice it can be answered perfectly.
CDS stands for Combined Military Services exam. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India. This exam is organized twice every year for the admission of Indian Military, Indian Air force and Indian Naval Services. The announcement of the exam is made in the months of October and June and CDS exam date is also declared at that time only. The exams are conducted in February and November. To appear in the exam, a candidate should be an unmarried graduate. All the candidates who crack the exam are employed in the respective departments after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board.
The eligibility criteria for service in Indian Military Academy is a graduate degree from recognized university. For service in the Indian Naval Academy, the degree of Bachelor of Engineering is necessary. For the job in Indian Air force, a candidate should have a degree of a recognized university in Physics and Maths or Bachelor of Engineering/Technology degree after 10+2 level. For this exam, the age limit is 19-25 years.
For examination of the Airforce, military and naval academy, there are three subjects in the syllabus namely English, General Knowledge and Elementary mathematics. All of the papers are of 100 marks, so net marks of the paper are 300 marks. For the exam of the Officer training academy, there are two subjects namely English and General Knowledge. The net marks of this paper are 200 marks.
How to apply for the exam?
All the candidates will have to visit the website of UPSC and apply through the online mode. The application fee for General and OBC candidates is 200 INR only. All the ST and lady candidates do not require to pay the fees. The fees can be paid cash at the banks mentioned on the website, or it can also be paid online using Visa or Mastercard.
All the candidate who are successful in passing the written exam are further called for an interview by the Services Selection Board. The interview lasts for a week, and during this time interval, a candidate has to appear for physical and psychological tests.
To achieve success in the exam, a candidate has to work hard. The syllabus of the exam can be referred from the books of NCERT of class VI to VIII. Also, some other magazines are available for general knowledge. A candidate should also refer the papers of previous years for better knowledge of examination level. One can crack the exam easily if all the material is studied properly.
